Sources: Tottenham agree £22.75m Traore fee with Wolves after breakthrough

Tottenham have agreed a fee £22.75million fee with Wolves for Adama Traore, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

Spurs reached an agreement with their Premier League rivals for the capture of the 25-year-old on Friday afternoon.

A Spurs source has told Football Insider that Wolves have accepted their offer of an initial £20m for Traore that will be topped up by £2.75m of performance-related add-ons.

The winger is now set for the green light to discuss personal terms with the Londoners as they look to finalise their first January capture.

The breakthrough in talks will be a huge boost to manager Antonio Conte, who has made it a priority to strengthen on the right flank this month.

Traore has been targeted as his contract expires in 18 months and he has rejected attempts to extend it.

Spurs are possibly eyeing up Traore as a right wing-back, in a similar way to how Conte taught Victor Moses, previously a winger, to play in that position for Chelsea.

The Spain international’s price tag has plummeted since last summer, when Wolves quoted £50m for him.

Traore has subsequently seen his price tag fall after struggling to hit the heights of his 2019-20 season at Wolves.

He has scored or assisted only once in 22 matches this term, and has lost his regular starting role.

Football Insider revealed in March of last year that Wolves were willing to listen to offers for Traore as they look to trim costs.

Traore scored his first goal of the campaign last weekend in Wolves’ 3-1 win over Southampton.

He has scored 11 goals and supplied 18 assists in 153 appearances for the Midlands outfit.
