Men of the Ondo State Security Network Agency codenamed Amotekun Corps have intercepted another 168 suspects who were armed with dangerous charms.

The suspects were concealed inside two trucks with 40 motorcycles and some cows.

All the motorcycles had forged documents.

Commander of the corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, said the suspects were intercepted around Itaogbolu-Iju, in Akure North LGA during a stop and search operation.

Adeleye stated that the suspects claimed they were coming from Kano and Jigawa states without a destination.

According to him: “After the profiling of the earlier ones, majority of them that do not have any case to answer we, we saw them back to where they came from but we found out that the influx of invaders still continues.

“On Sunday, our stop and search team saw these two trucks they told them that they were on their way to Ondo state with cows after careful examination we found out that they carefully concealed about 40 Motorcycles with 168 people lying down beneath the Motorcycles.

“The upper floor has cows, the middle has motorcycles wrapped and dismantled and at the lower floors, we have 168 people lying down such that if you are not careful, you won’t observe it. So, we questioned where they were going and why they packed themselves and why they were avoiding people and they said they were coming to Ondo State. Upon interrogation any of them do not have the address of where they are going, nobody invited them and we are becoming curious of these invasions. I called it invasion because you see over 100 able-bodied men concealing themselves under animals, it shows they are up to negative motives.

“We have commenced profiling but we want to warn citizens of the state to be wary of visitors because nobody knows how many of such invaders had managed to enter the system. We saw these ones with chams, which we are yet to ascertain what the mission is.

“Those who own the motorcycles, they confessed that non of the motorbikes had papers and of course, they photocopied some papers but you can see one engine number in 30 motorcycles which clearly shows that they were forged documents. We will find out how they got the motorcycles and also find out their mission in Ondo State. If they don’t have any credible thing to do in the state, we will send them back.

“As a Nigerian regardless of geopolitical zone, you have the right to lawfully go to any part of the country but it is the unlawful part we are contesting. When you now move in a suspicious way that would amount to criminality, that is where it puts you to question”.

Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has said that not even his corpse will be found in the camp of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

El-Rufai stated this while responding to a comment by Daniel Bwala, spokesperson to PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Bwala, who was an aide of the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, last month dumped the position and the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s choice of a fellow Muslim, former Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima as running mate.

El-Rufai had via his verified Twitter handle shared and laughed at one of Bwala’s TV appearances where he lambasted the PDP.

Consequently, Bwala on Monday via his verified Twitter handle stated: “Hmm @elrufai is one of the finest we have from the north, I will never join issues with him, especially because I am optimistic he will be with us before the 2023 elections.”

A few hours later, El-Rufai in his response wrote ” Thanks @BwalaDaniel but no, thanks. Never ever, not even my corpse will be found in the vicinities of your new-found political party. I still dey laugh!!! – @elrufai.”

The Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam, has inaugurated a 13-man committee assigned with the responsibility of coming up with defined presidential campaign structures for the party.

The committee expected to submit report within two weeks is headed by a former Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission, (FRSC) who is also the National Secretary of the party while a veteran journalist, Dr Ibrahim Modibo, would serve as its secretary.

Inaugurating the committee on Monday, National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Shehu Gabam, at the brief occasion in Abuja, said the party was in the race to win the forthcoming presidential election and restore good governance to the country.

He pointed out that the SDP remained the last hope of the nation as such party should go all out out to canvas for the supports  of  all Nigerians who were already clamouring for restoration of good governance in the country.

The terms of reference of the committee are: “to develop road map and presidential campaign structure; to liaise with the presidential candidate for his inputs to keep in constant consultation with the National Chairman of the party.

“The committee shall report to the National Chairman in not later than two weeks.

“The committee Chairman may co-opt other members to assist the committee in this assignment.”

Gabam expressed optimism that the Committee members  would bring their wealth of  experience to bear in the assignment assignment to cause harmonisation and guide the Party to electoral victory come 2023.

Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Dr Agunloye promised that members would carry out the assignment diligently and assured a total victory for the party at the poll.

Femi Owolabi, an investigative journalist, wrongly linked to the murder of Gbenga Owolabi, a US-based hotelier in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, has raised the alarm over an attempt to soil his image.

The hotelier was abducted alongside Racheal Opadele, one of his workers who was a student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH).

Opadele sought temporary employment at the hotel because of the Academic Union of Universities (ASUU) strike.

Daily Trust had reported how the duo were killed after a N5 million ransom.

Meanwhile, at the weekend, a post started circulating that one Femi Owolabi, said to be a younger brother of the deceased, had been arrested in connection with the incident.

“Police arrested immediate younger brother of Late Gbenga Owolabi, an hotelier in Ogbomoso, who was killed by the kidnappers alongside Lautech student, Racheal. He was arrested with some Fulani herdsmen. But the suspect, Femi Owolabi blamed the devil over what happened in his confessional statement made to the Police. Wonders shall never end! Is this not a wicked world?”

The family of the deceased had denied the post, saying they had no relation who bears Femi Owolabi.

However, some persons kept circulating the false post on social media and even attached the picture of the investigative journalist who works with TheCable, Nigeria’s leading online newspaper.

In his reaction, the journalist said, “In the last 24 hours, I have received calls and messages— drawing my attention to a report making the rounds about the confession of a certain Femi Owolabi who allegedly killed his elder brother.

“From the report, Femi Owolabi was paraded by the Oyo state police command and had confessed to killing his brother, an action he now blamed on the devil. The said elder brother, Gbenga Owolabi, was based in the US and had come to Nigeria where he was reportedly kidnapped and subsequently murdered by his abductors in Oyo state.

“I like to inform the public that the Femi Owolabi here is NOT me. The public should also note that a picture of me attached to a viral report of the incident is a regrettable and negligent mix-up, and should be totally ignored. I have already commenced action to address it. I must state unequivocally that, not only am I not the Femi Owolabi in question, I am also in no way related to the family of the slain Gbenga Owolabi.”

A media aide to the presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, Valentine Obienyem has reacted to a claim that his principal belongs to the Pyrates Confraternity.

Obienyem in his reaction stated that Obi is not a member of the National Association of Seadogs (NAS), better known as the Pyrates Confraternity.

The clarification followed a claim on Facebook by a user identified as Fejiro Oliver suggesting the former Governor of Anambra State is a member of the group.

Though the post has now been deleted, Oliver had written it in his reaction after a viral video of the confraternity mocking the health status of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

In the viral video, the members of the Pyrates Confraternity sang, “Hand dey shake, leg dey shake, Baba wey no well, e de shout emi lo kan (Hands are shaking, legs are shaking. A sick old man is shouting ‘it’s my turn’).

“Emi lo kan (2ce), Baba wey no well, him dey shout emi lokan (It’s my turn (2ce), a sick old man is shouting ‘it’s my turn”.

Oliver in his post had claimed Obi is a “dedicated Pyrate who has led by the tenets we were baptised with.”

He also wrote: “I have watched the trending video of the revered and worldwide adored Pyrates Confraternity video, a beloved Association that I’m proud to belong to, where they ruled out Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a candidate in our ongoing convention taking place in Lagos State,” the post had read.

“As customary with the fraternity to use songs to pass messages to society, towards condemning or supporting individuals, government or policies, I find this particular song in bad taste, especially with the way an uninformed member posted it on social media.

“Yes, Peter Obi is one of us, a dedicated Pyrate who has led by the tenets we were baptised with. He has always promoted the ideals of Pyracy during his days as a Governor and has contributed to the frat as a whole.

“It is proper we support one of our own to ascend the number position in Nigeria after getting the number two in Namadi Sambo. We do know that with Peter Obi as President, the just society that we want will be achieved and the ills militating against a just society that we fight will be reduced.

“While it is in our inner consciousness to gyrate towards one of our very best to be President, it is improper to promote it publicly.

“In PDP and APC do we have many men who are time tested seadogs, men in very high places and the best where they are.

“We cannot publicly disown these men who support Tinubu their whole life or will die for Atiku Abubakar to emerge as President for Peter Obi.

“Peter Obi is better but moderation is also everything.”

But reacting to claims that Obi is a member of the Pyrates, Obienyem was quoted by The Cable to have denied such.

“Not at all,” the media aide was quoted to a said in a text message in response to enquiries about the matter.

Okoi, attached to Ekori Divisional Headquarters, Cross Rivers Police Command, was dismissed for gross misconduct captured in a viral video on July 31, 2022, where he was flogging a man with a machete.

His dismissal, according to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, takes effect from Monday.

The IGP reiterated his commitment to ethical regeneration, restoration of professional standard and enhancement of the anti-corruption drive with dedication to entrenching human rights-driven policing within the country.

He expressed confidence that the current overhauling will improve the effectiveness of the units, and rid them of negative elements who deviate from the standard operating procedure of the Units, and the Nigeria Police Force in general.

The statement reads in part: “The Inspector-General of Police, *IGP Usman Alkali Baba, has expressed grave disappointment at the reports of brutality and extortion levelled against some police officers via various complaint channels available to the public, particularly on social media platforms. The IGP has therefore directed all supervising Commissioners of Police and Tactical/Strategic Commanders to ensure strict supervision of their personnel as further incidences of this nature would be viewed strictly.

“The IGP has also ordered a holistic overhauling of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), the Special Tactical Squad (STS), and the Special Weapon and Tactics (SWAT) Units to ensure that their operations are in tandem with the purpose for their creation, and maximum effectiveness and output in line with the mandate of the IGP’s administration and public safety.

“The IGP has therefore directed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Intelligence Bureau (AIG-FIB) to carry out supervisory role over the three units to ensure their operations are professional, active and productive and do not infringe on the fundamental rights of the citizenry, and other members of the public”.

Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai has shut down any possibility of joining the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

El-Rufai ruled out the possibility of dumping the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the PDP in a reaction shared via his Twitter account on Monday.

Before then, the spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar 2023 Presidential Campaign Organization, Daniel Bwala had expressed optimism that El-Rufai will dump the APC for the PDP ahead of the 2023 elections.

“My attention was drawn to @elrufai laughing at a comment made about me on my past video. Hmm @elrufai is one of the finest we have from the north, I will never join issues with him, especially because I am optimistic he will be with us before the 2023 elections,” he wrote.

But the Kaduna State Governor quickly rejected the idea, saying not even his corpse will be found near the PDP.

He wrote: “Thanks @BwalaDaniel but no, thanks. Never ever, not even my corpse will be found in the vicinities of your new-found political party. I still dey laugh!!! – @elrufai”

Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike has vowed that anybody undervaluing the political capability of his State will be taught a painful lesson in 2023.

Wike spoke at the inauguration of the Orochiri -Worukwo (Waterlines junction) flyover that was performed by Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in Port Harcourt on Monday.

The Governor explained that the dynamics of contemporary politics had made it unpopular to just gift votes away without the assurance of derivable benefit for the people.

Wike said: “If you say Rivers State does not matter, Rivers State will tell you that you don’t also matter at the appropriate time. If you don’t like us, we will not like you. If you like us, we will like you.

“Nobody will use our votes for nothing. Our votes will matter and Rivers State must benefit from anybody that we are going to support.

“Politics now is no longer just vote for somebody, it is about what you will do for the people of Rivers State.”

Wike said it would be difficult for any conspirator to upset the voting pattern of Rivers State and support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Governor insisted that those who looted the treasury of the state would not be supported to become governor of Rivers State.

He said: “My guest from Lagos State, let nobody tell you story that anybody will come here to win as governor of Rivers State. It will not happen.

“Those who looted the treasury of the State will not come here to be governor of Rivers State and I have challenged them.

“I am fully in charge. I am not that kind of governor people will go to Abuja and hold meetings against. I am fully in charge here.”

Wike also challenged those envious of his developmental strides to show their capacities by executing projects and inviting renown persons to inaugurate them.

He explained the invitation of the Lagos Governor was not the first time persons of other political parties were urged to inaugurate projects in Rivers State.

Sanwo-Olu, who inaugurated the Orochiri-Worokwu (Waterlines) Flyover, commended Wike for his strong commitment to the delivery of physical infrastructure in Rivers State.

He said: “I would like to specially commend my brother, Governor Wike, for his strong commitment to the delivery of physical infrastructure in Rivers State, a commitment that has been recognized by all and sundry, and which has earned him the appellation of ‘Mr. Projects’ within and outside Rivers State.”

Sanwo-Olu said though he and Wike belonged to different political persuasions, the invitation extended to him sent a very strong message that political leaders could come together across political and ideological divides, for the good of the people.

Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, representing Enugu North Senatorial District has described the supporters of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Dr Peter Obi, as noisemakers.

He stated this after a face-off with an Obidient supporter, @McCa_Xn, on Twitter.

On Sunday, the former Enugu State governor claimed that Obi’s supporters, who are known as Obidients, are less than 0.25 percent of the entire 200 million Nigerians.

Nnamani, who is seeking a return to the National Assembly, had earlier vowed that Labour Party would not be allowed to win any political office in Enugu State, saying “bye-bye for Obidient”.

As a result, several of Obidient’s fans attacked him on Facebook and Twitter, causing a significant uproar.

In a new post on his verified Facebook page, the lawmaker noted that his supporters are members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and that they are unable to work for another party to succeed.

He contends that the “Obidient Movement” shouldn’t have expanded to include the governorship and Assembly seats if it is exclusively for Peter Obi.

“There is no Obidient PARTY! The name is Labour Party. A political party with candidates in all offices, including the governorship.

“Our party and platform are different, and that is PDP. FACT If we blur the distinction and foolishly vote Obidient that is Labour Party for President?

“For the minority ELITES, it is easy to reverse 2 weeks later! For the majority over 98percent that is major “confuse “as they say on the Streets” Confuse Yamaru” as Umu Asadu will put it!

“Remember these advocates are Noisy, Loud, Intolerant, Proselytizers, Condescending but less than 0.25percent of our 200 million population. That is a generous guess of those propagandists controlling the NARRATIVE. Only a narrative.

“If Obidient is Peter Obi only, why field candidates in other offices? Why do we establish a foundation and beachhead for Labour Party? In battle, do you give invaders your beach head to Land (please forgive my war analogy, for want of a more graphic example) and now seek to drive them away? ebeanoFAM answered my question. The answer is blowing in the wind”
